The affairs of the Group are managed by an Executive Committee which consists of four Officers, President, Vice-President, Hon Treasurer and Hon Secretary, and nine Committee members. The Committee has the authority to make such rules as are necessary for the efficient running of the Group.
Candidates for the Committee are elected by members of the Group. Officers hold office for one year and are eligible for re-election but a President shall not hold office for more than three years. Committee members can serve for a term of three years and may stand for re-election for one further term of three years.
The Committee meets regularly in a room made available to the Group by the Holly Tree on Withycombe Village Road and business includes reports from the Officers, the Membership Secretary, Programme Coordinators and Exhibition Coordinator.
Hello from the President |
||
|
I was extremely pleased to have accepted the role of President, following my election at the AGM in March 2011, and to have the opportunity of working with the Committee. I am keen for the running of the Group to continue to be very much a reflection of the wishes of the general membership so encourage all to pass on any concerns and forward comments or suggestions, related to our activities, to me or another member of the Committee. Since my election we have held three very successful exhibitions at the Town Hall, A la Ronde and the Elizabeth Hall and enjoyed the hospitality of our patrons, Nigel and Heleen Lindsay-Fynn, at their Annual Summer Reception for the Group. We are looking forward to a coach trip to Bristol for the RWA Autumn Exhibition and our Christmas Party which we will hold at the Elizabeth Hall. |

Met the President, now to introduce the rest of the Committee . . . . . .The other THREE ELECTED OFFICERS are: |
||
DAVID MATTHEWS, VICE-PRESIDENT |
LIZ HARDWICK, HON TREASURER |
CATHERINE AGER, HON SECRETARY |
In his role as Vice-President, David deputises for the President when required and cheerfully assists Committee members with their specific responsibilities. He manages publicity and promotion of the Group particularly for our three exhibitions. |
Elizabeth is our very able Treasurer. With her eye for detail we can be reassured that the Group finances are in good hands and know that payments will be made without fuss or delay. She maintains our asset record. |
Catherine is the Group’s Secretary aiming for an efficient administration whilst trying not to be overly officious. She edits the Newsletter and shares responsibility with David for publicity and promotion. |
working with COMMITTEE MEMBERS: |
||
ANGELA HALL |
DIANNE BROADY |
ELIZABETH SWIFT |
Angela is the Membership Secretary and we can rely on her to do this essentially meticulous task with absolute care and good humour. Her life is made so much easier, however, if members keep her informed of changes to contact details. |
Dianne has the vital role of Exhibition Coordinator. She supervises our three shows, in May participating in the Exmouth Festival, in June at A la Ronde and in September at the Elizabeth Hall, and chairs the Exhibition Working Group. |
Elizabeth manages all our catering and oversees the arrangements for all our social occasions. This means we can always be sure of plenty of quality refreshments at all our evening meetings and private views. |
WENDY FLATHER & PATRICIA HOUGH |
PAUL PALIN |
MICHAEL NORMAN |
Wendy (left) & Patricia (right) are our joint Programme Coordinators. They book speakers and demonstrators for the Thursday evening meetings, organise the competition nights and always arrive early at our meeting venue to ensure everything is set up. |
Paul co-ordinates our outings including an annual trip to the RWA Autumn Exhibition in Bristol. He is our technical expert and always on hand to set up the audio and video equipment at the evening meetings. |
Michael is an eminent pastel artist, elected to membership of the Pastel Society UK in 2007, and brings his expertise to the setting up of our exhibitions. He willingly helps with all aspects of the Committee’s work. |
