Audrey HardmanLiving here by the ever-changing sea provides my inspiration .My work is mainly marine based and the glass has the perfect reflective qualities I need to capture movement and give an organic feel to my pieces. Stained glass, mirror glass, sea glass and gems are my main materials but I also use Iridized glass which reflects a rainbow of colour. The mix of bold colours and clear-cut designs define my artwork. Special wheeled cutters are used to cut each fragment of glass and the picture develops with the cut tiles deciding the final design and outcome. A piece 2 feet diameter will take several months to complete. The finished plaque is grouted and polished and finally the back is painted. I have sold work in galleries in Exmouth and Seaton and am now also exhibiting in Sidmouth. A couple of years ago I had a nine month wall display in Plymouth National Marine Aquarium. I enjoy being with the Exmouth Art Group where there is such a wide variety of artwork. |
